The Art of Racing in the Rain tells a tale of Enzo a soulful and pensive dog, preparing himself to become human. How long will Enzo have to wait for death to come knocking?

Stein uses the third person omniscient point of view through the character of Enzo to engage readers with the story. Stein is able to evoke strong emotions on readers by the tone of his writing. The tone of the novel can be described as inspiring, moving and thought-provoking. The Art of Racing in the Rain is a touching yet heartbreaking story of Enzo's journey of becoming human and his relationship with Denny and his family.
